  • 2 cups moong dal
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4-5 cardamom ground
  • dry fruits
  • four cups of water
  • shredded coconut
  • two cups ghee

Method of making moong dal halwa

  • First of all, we will keep the moong dal in a utensil for 7-8 hours.
  • When this dal gets soaked well, then we will rub it well with hands and peel off the dal.
  • Then wash it thoroughly.
  • Now put this pulse in the mixer and grind it coarsely.
  • Now we will soak saffron in four spoons of milk.
  • Now we will take a pan and put ghee in it.
  • When the ghee melts, we will put the crushed lentils in it and cook on medium heat.
  • It will take 30-35 minutes to cook the dal and the dal will be roasted well.
  • Now add milk, sugar and water to this mixture of lentils.
  • We will cook this mixture till the sugar dissolves well in it and gets mixed.
  • When the pan starts leaving ghee, we will cook it continuously.
  • Then we will add cardamom and dry fruits to it and mix it well.
  • Now we will leave it to cool down.
  • When the halwa cools down, serve it after applying saffron, almonds and chopped coconut.

Suggestion

  • Remove the skin of the lentils from the water thoroughly.
  • Do not grind the pulse too finely.
  • Add milk and water little by little to the mixture.
