1. There is a risk of birth defects 

Ginseng contains an active chemical called ginsenoside Rb1, which causes defects in the development of animal fetuses. According to the National Institute of Health, it should not be used during pregnancy, as it can be harmful to you and the fetus.

2. There is a risk of bleeding

 Korean ginseng has anticoagulant properties, which pose a risk to you during pregnancy. This prevents the blood from clotting normally, which can cause serious problems during or after delivery.

3. Diarrhea can occur  

Diarrhea has been reported as a side effect in women who have taken ginseng tea during pregnancy. You have watery bowel movements after drinking this. Due to this, you are also prone to dehydration, which can have a bad effect on the fetus. If you experience diarrhea after consuming ginseng tea, see a doctor immediately and drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated.

4. Poor sleep 

Ginseng can disturb the sleep of pregnant women. In addition to having trouble falling asleep, waking up several times during the night can be a side effect of consuming ginseng supplements or teas. Due to not being able to sleep properly, your stamina can decrease and mood swings also start and at the same time you feel very tired.

5. Dry mouth 

Pregnant women who consume ginseng tea often complain of dry mouth. This happens because the enzymes present in ginseng affect the function of the salivary glands. Pregnant women also experience it due to anxiety, stress, and other medications. Consuming ginseng in this increases your problem further.

6. Lowers blood sugar

Pregnant women are more prone to diabetes and they are unaware of it. Consuming ginseng can worsen sugar levels, which can cause dizziness and palpitations, which is dangerous for both the mother and the baby.

7. Headache may occur

Pregnant women who consume ginseng may experience pain in their head and muscles of the face and neck. It can also increase the problem of morning sickness or mood swings.

8. Disrupts hormones

Ginseng can also disrupt hormones and cause hormonal imbalance during pregnancy.

You are not advised to consume ginseng during pregnancy and you are suggested to avoid it due to its side effects.
