Cranberry recipes for pregnant women 

Cranberry is the best fruit to satisfy the cravings for sour food during pregnancy. Women often eat it only to reduce the problem of nausea. Here are some of its recipes, let’s find out;

1. Cranberry Pickles 

Pickle is made by mixing mustard oil and spices in cranberry. It is very easy to make and can be eaten with muri (puffed rice), paratha or dal rice. 


  • Cranberries: 500 grams 
  • Mustard oil: 500 ml 
  • Mustard seeds: 2 tbsp 
  • Cumin: 5 tbsp 
  • Coriander seeds: 4 tbsp 
  • Fenugreek seeds: 1 tbsp 
  • Chili powder: 2 tbsp (as per taste)
  • Salt: as per taste 


  • First of all, wash and dry the cranberries thoroughly. 
  • Now cut it into 2 parts. 
  • Now add chili and salt to it. Now cover it with a muslin cloth and keep it in the sun for some time and keep stirring it in between. 
  • You keep it in the sun for about 5 to 7 days until it dries completely. 
  • Roast all the whole spices and grind them into powder. 
  • Combine the cranberries, mustard oil and ground spices in a glass jar and mix well. 
  • Shake the jar well once and enjoy the taste of the pickle. 

2. Cranberry juice 

Is it safe to drink cranberry juice during pregnancy? Yes, but it would be better to drink in moderation. This can cure many problems and diseases that occur during pregnancy.

  • Sugar syrup or honey (optional)


  • First, put water and cranberries in a large pan and bring the mixture to a boil. 
  • Now reduce the flame and cook it till it bursts open and becomes soft. 
  • After cooking, filter it with a muslin cloth or strainer. 
  • If the juice is too sour, you can add sugar syrup or honey to it. 
  • If you want, you can also add any other juice to it.  

3. Cranberry Jam 

This is one of the easiest and tastiest recipes to make using cranberries. 


  • Fresh Cranberries: 250 grams
  • Water: 1 cup
  • Sugar: 1 cup 
  • Jaggery: 2 cups
  • Vinegar: ½ cup 
  • Cardamom: ½ tsp 


  • First of all, wash the cranberries and boil them till the top layer comes off. 
  • Now make puree of half cooked cranberries. 
  • Add sugar, jaggery, vinegar, cardamom powder in a pan and bring it to a boil. 
  • Now add cranberries to it and cook till its consistency becomes jam-like. 

Cranberry is also known as the wonder berry as it helps in curing many such problems which weaken the body, increase sensitivity and weaken immunity during pregnancy. However, eating too much of it can also cause discomfort. Hence, consult a doctor and exercise caution before including cranberries in your diet during pregnancy.
